Attribute Products

An attribute product is a product that is associated with a primary product and can therefore only be selected from the primary product's page (in other words, it isn't visible from the cart catalog).

Creating an Attribute Product

Before you can create an attribute product, you must first create a primary product. To do that, follow the directions provided here. Make a special note of the attribute product options while creating the primary product.

Once you have created the primary product, do the following from the admin control panel:

  1. Click on "Cart » Products"
  2. Find the primary product you wish to associate this attribute product with, and click on "Options » Create Attribute Product"
  3. Create the attribute product the same way you would a primary product. Under the section entitled "Product Attributes", set the Limit setting according to whether you want users to be able to add only 1 unit of this product when adding the primary product, or whether you wish to give them a quantity option. If you select "Limit quantity to one", the user will only be able to tick a checkbox to add 1 unit, while selecting "Allow multiple" will create a quantity text input allowing them to input their desired quantity.
  4. Save the changes.

You will now be able to see the attribute product when viewing the primary product's page:

Templates

Attribute Product Selection

The attribute product selection table appears on the "Cart: View Product Page" template where the %attribute_products% caller tag is located. Each attribute product is formatted by the "Product View: Attribute Product Entry" template, which is a sub-template of the "Cart: View Product Page" template.

Attribute Product Description Panel

The program also allows you to create marketing section for each attribute product. This appears on the "Cart: View Product Page" template where the %attribute_desc_panels% caller tag is located. Each description panel is formatted by the "Product View: Attribute Product Description Panel" template, which is a sub-template of the "Cart: View Product Page" template.
