Facebook Connect

Facebook Connect allows you to register and log users into Member Guardian using their Facebook account.

Register Your Application With Facebook

In order to use this feature, you will need to register your application with Facebook. To do this, follow these instructions:

  1. Visit the Facebook App page.
  2. Click on "Create New App"
  3. Input "Member Guardian Login For Yoursite" for the App Name.
  4. In the "App Domains" field, enter ""
  5. Under the "Select how your app integrates with Facebook" section, click on "Website with Facebook Login"
  6. Input the URL to the "login_facebook.php" file:
  7. Save the changes.
  8. Finally, copy the "App ID" and "App Secret" for later use.

Activate the Module

From your Member Guardian admin control panel:

  1. Click on "Settings » Modules"
  2. Expand the "Facebook Connect" module.
  3. Click on "Active"
  4. Input the "App ID" and "App Secret" acquired previously.
  5. Under "Login Redirect", select the URL to which users will be redirected after logging in through Facebook Connect. We recommend making this your member control panel.
  6. Select your desired status for newly registered accounts, as well as the protected folders and user groupings to which these users should be assigned.
  7. Save the changes.

Adding Facebook To Your Login Form

The only thing left to do is add a "Facebook Connect" button to your login form. This can be a plain text link, or more commonly, you can use a Facebook Connect image:
